Ultimate Fight Final: Michael Chiesa vs Al Iaquinta

Big Al Iaquinta came out firing two big lefts to the beard of Michael Chiesa. Chiesa responded with a kick, but Al caught it and landed a bunch of shots. The bearded Chiesa landed a takedown, but Iaquinta popped back up right away. Chiesa’s eye looked terrible from the outset, the first time I’ve seen a guy coming into a fight with a shiner.

Al landed a superman right hand and then caught another kick, but Chiesa got a body lock and worked the takedown. Soon he had Iaquinta’s back with three minutes left to work in the opening stanza. Chiesa secured the choke nice and low and it was only a matter of time before Iaquinta was out. Referee Herb Dean grabbed Iaqunita’s arm and realized his brain had shut off due to the lack of blood flow.

It was a great stoppage by Dean. Many other refs wouldn’t have stopped it so quickly. Chiesa’s mom and sister embraced him in the ring as he was declared the victor.
