UFC on FX 7: Wagner Prado vs Ildemar Alcantara

Happy New Year fight fans. I was out of the country for the death knell of Strikeforce, but I’m back in action now.

Wagner Prado is sporting a porn star moustachio tonight. Yamasaki is the ref. New ring girls tonight. Live updates after the jump:[[MORE]]

Round 1: Head kick by Wagner, who whiffs on a huge hook. Wagner lands a big right hook, then does it again. Now a left from Wagner. Prado is popping Alcantara, who shoves him against the fence. The fighters break.

Alcantara throws a slo-mo kick, which is blocked. Front kick from Alcantara. Inside leg kick by Prado. Prado lands another kick. The fighters clinch and break. Bodyshot by Prado. Wagner walks into a knee, but lands another right hook. Alcantara lands a weak jab. Bodykick by Ildemar. Prado swarms swinging and lands a punch to the body and one upstairs. Head kick by Ildemar is blocked.

Prado might be cut, but it’s impossible to tell without HD. Prado lands a right high on the side of Alcantara’s head. Prado lands another big right. Prado lands a knee and gets put on his back by the shooting Alcantara. Prado holds on while Alcantara throws weak bodyshots. Someone is bleeding. Prado looks like he’s cut.

The crowd boos and Yamasaki stands them up. The Yamasaki brothers are known for getting positively bored by any sort of ground fighting, and both tend to stand guys up very quickly. They have pretty much a completely different notion of when to stand guys up than just about every other ref.

Round 2: Jab by Alcantara, hook by Prado. Pair of hooks from Prado. Alcantara lands a jab. Wagner lands a straight right, but Alcantara shoots. Alcantara has his neck stuck in a loose guillotine. Prado grabs a leg and looks to stand up. Alcantara tries to sink a D'Arce choke, but Prado slips out of it, gets on top and is bleeding on Alcantara. Alcantara lands a nice elbow from the bottom, but he is getting hit as Wagner tries to improve his position.

Wagner is just sitting on his knees pumping fists the face. Alcantara goes for knee bar. Prado doesn’t have a fucking clue how to counter that move and he’s in a lot of trouble. Alcantara changes position and sinks a kneebar.
