UFC 164 Live: Chico Camus vs Kyung Ho Kang

Wow, I just caught the end of the bumfight that wrapped up the Facebook prelims. Two heavyweights with no cardio. I don’t think they’ll be plugging that one into the Pay Per View. I would say both of those fighters have stains on their souls after that terrible fight. Chico Camus vs Kyung Ho Kang here, live updates after the jump: [[MORE]]

Round 1: Kang with a nice kick to the body. Camus is pushing forward. Chico lands a jab. Big kick from Kang, but it doesn’t land. Chico’s looking pretty quick so far. Kang kicks and Chico lands a right. Chico lands a pair of punches, then does it again. Chico is closing the distance nicely.

Kang lands a right hand. Chico dashes in, Kang ducks under and gets a takedown. Kang is trying to step through the guard. Three minutes left. Chico gets back to the full guard and lands an elbow from the bottom. Kang postures up and comes down punching, but misses.

Kang tried to get Chico’s back, but Chico defended nicely. He still has Kang in his guard.  ang gets up and falls back into the guard, now he’s back in half guard. Elbow by Kang. Chico tries to get out, but Kang moves into side control with a minute and a half left. Kang tries to mount again, but Chico keeps him in the guard and lands a few elbows from the bottom. Kang lands a few punches. Kang gets up and falls into the guard punching, but misses again. Chico is landing some nice elbows from the bottom.

Chico goes for an omoplata and ends up on top, but the round ends. Good round. Chico did a good job minimizing the damage on the bottom, but he was on his back for three minutes, so he’s losing that round.

Round 2: Chico better keep it on the feet this time around. Chico comes in swinging and Kang puts him on his back. Kang doesn’t like to strike from the guard that much, so he keeps standing up to punch. There’s a scramble, but Kang remains on top. The crowd sounds like they’re getting restless with the hometown fighter lying on his back.

Chico lands a big upkick and it looks like it hurt Kang, but Kang’s still on top. Kang tries to mount, but Chico holds on. Kang passes to side control, but Chico gets back to half guard  Chico rolls out and gets on top with two minutes left. Chicolands some nice elbows from the top. Kang tries to get his back against the cage, but Chico gets a choke in and pulls him back to the ground

Chico is punishing Kang from the top. Forty seconds left and Kang gives up his back. Kang rolls over again. Chico lands some nice punches as the round ends. Kang’s defense is not very good when he’s on his back. Chico did far more damage in those two minutes than Kang has over the whole fight.

Round 3: Kang throws some nice kicks. Chico shoots, but Kang stuffs it and throws a knee. Chico lands a pair of punches. Big right from Chico. Kang throws a jump kick to the body. Chico is bleeding from left eye.  F

The fighters exchange, but Chico lands the better blow. Kang shoots. Chico sprawls, but ends up on his back with three and a half minutes left. Kang moves to side control, but Chico gets him back in half guard. Chico needs to get Kang off him.

Chico gets Kang in his guard, but can’t get him off. Kang lands a nice punch from inside the guard.  ang stands up and lands a clean punch while falling down. Chico pushes Kang off him with his feet, and they’re standing with 1:45 left. Camus needs to blast Kang here.

Kang comes in and Chico lands a big knee, but Kang is back on top. Chico has Kang in his guard again and Kang is trying to ride out the fight on top. Kang postures up and eats an upkick, but he’s back in the guard again. Kang eats an upkick at the end of the round and it looks like he’s out.

Camus lands a ton of punches at the end and Kang is saved by the horn. That’s a tough round to score. I’m giving it to Chico for almost finishing the fight at the end, but it would not be outrageous for the judges to score it for Kang based on the top control.

Judges score it 29-28 (twice) and 30-27 for Chico Camus.

How the did they give the first round to Chico? That’s insane. What a crappy scorecard.
