UFC 163: Jose Aldo vs Korean Zombie

The Korean Zombie comes out to “Zombie” by the Cranberries, again. If I were him, I’d come out to Astro Zombies by the Misfits, but whatever.

This fight should hopefully make up for the idiocy that was the Machida-Davis decision. I’m still pissed about that garbage. Jose Aldo’s the best, but the Zombie has been improving by leaps and bounds. He’s super durable and is slick as heck on the ground too, so this should be a great main event. Round 1: Zombie pushing foward, Aldo retreating. Big right from the champ. Jab from Aldo. Another big right from Aldo. Aldo is really throwing. Zombie misses with a head kick. Leg kick from Aldo. Aldo is showing the Zombie a lot off respect so far. Aldo lands a jab and a leg kick. Leg kick from Zombie. Zombie lands a jab. Big right from Aldo.

Zombie gets poked in the eye, but he’s okay. Aldo goes for the takedown, but the Zombie throws him off. Aldo lands a big spinning wheelkick, the Zombie tries to return fire as the round ends.

Round 2: Right lands for Zombie. Left lands for the Zombie. Zombie whiffs on a front kick. Zombie comes forward and eats a right. Uppercut by Aldo. Jab by Aldo. Aldo lands a right. Leg kick by the Zombie is checked by the champ. Pair of bodypunches by Aldo. Jab by Aldo. Zombie eats a jab. Jab by Aldo. Aldo is outclassing the Zombie on the feet so far, he’s so much quicker.

Jung coming forward, but Aldo eludes him and lands a left. Leg kick from Zombie. Zombie lands a big right hand (unremarked upon by Goldie and Stann) and Aldo looks surprised, but gets a big takedown. Aldo into side control. Jung tries to lock in a triangle, but Aldo defends and is back in Jung’s guard getting his ears slapped.

Round 3: Left by Zombie. Right by the Zombie. Zombie comes in with a flying knee, but Aldo is too quick and puts the Zombie on his back. The Zombie is looking to sit up on the fence. Zombie is punching the ear. Aldo is doing nothing, Zombie is able to stand.

The champ gets a trip, but Jung is punching him in the ear. I did not expect to see Aldo initiating grappling. Referee Herb Dean is telling them to work, then finally breaks them up. Jung is unloading, but Aldo returning fire. Zombie is turning it into a brawl. Aldo pins the Zombie against the fence again. I’m not sure that he wants to strike with Jung.

Zombie tries for a choke, but lets it go. Nice elbows to the head from the Zombie. Herb Dean separates the fighters again. Zombie lands a left and went for another wild flying knee as both fighters fell down. Aldo looks dead tired.

10-9 Aldo. His corner tells him to stop fucking clinching. If the Zombie can push the action, he might be able to tire the champ out. But the champ is up 3-0, so he can just play defense from here on.

Round 4: Zombie comes forward punching. Aldo lands a left. Aldo and Zombie are both whiffing on large punches. Zombie is swinging, lands a left hook. Left by Zombie lands, but Jung’s shoulder is separated. Aldo lands two head kicks, a punch and is on the Zombie’s back swarming. Referee Herb Dean steps in and ends it.
