UFC 158 Prelims: Daron Cruickshank vs. John Makdessi

John Makdessi looks like Fred Armisen playing former New York Governor David Patterson. Daron Cruickshank is known as “The Detroit Superstar,” so you know he’s tough. Live updates after the jump:[[MORE]]

Round 1: These surly Canucks have been drinking too much Molson Ice and are really quick to boo if nothing happens. Daron is ripping some leg kicks. Makdessi is not keeping his hands very high. He could be eating a kick if he’s not careful. Makdessi kicks and Daron punches him twice.

Daron lands a nice kick, but it didn’t connect with the head. Makdessi kicks Cruickshank in the dick. Makdessi doesn’t think it hit and complains. Makdessi goes for a switch kick, but it doesn’t land. Makdessi goes for a spinning back fist. Daron shoots, but lets go of him. Nice jump kick by Cruickshank to end the round.

Close, but 10-9 Cruickshank. The Ultimate Fighter continues to tease trips to the emergency rooms. Nice.

Round 2: Cruickshank is still scoring with the jab. Cruickshank throws the side kick. Leg kick by Makdessi. Leg kick by Daron. Uppercut by Cruickshank. Leg kick by Cruickshank. Daron fakes some spinning shit and Makdessi tags him with a right. Nice right hand by Daron.  F

The fighters trade spinning kicks. Daron shoots and it is stuffed. Daron is landing the jab, but Makdessi comes back with a punch of his own. Nice jab by Makdessi. Big right by Cruickshank. Makdessi tries an axe kick. Fucking kicking clinic here by these two Tae Kwon Do bras. Daron lands a kick and Makdessi comes back with a few nice punches. The fighters trade punches. Spinning backfist misses for Makdessi and Cruickshank comes flying at him as the round ends. That was a really close round.

10-9 Makdessi. Close again.

Round 3: Lots of flashy kicks from Daron, but they miss. Kick from Makdessi blocked. Cruickshank is pumping the jab. Nice right by Cruickshank. Cruickshank slips from a kick. Nice spinning kick by Cruickshank. Daron shoots and it is stuffed. Not a good shot right there.

Makdessi is bleeding pretty bad. Makdessi lands a punch. Makdessi coming forward. Cruickshank tries to shoot and ends up on his back again. Cruickshank stands. Cruickshank looks tired and is eating jabs. Two minutes left. Makdessi lands a jab. Spinning back kick by Makdessi. Makdessi is just landing way more punches.

Makdessi got poked in the eye hard and signals for a time out. I think he got both eyes with that eye poke. Cruickshank needed to catch a breather. He better come out strong here.

Nice left hook by Makdessi. Nice kick by Makdessi. Daron eats another punch and is not really working. There are thirty seconds left and Cruickshank whiffs on two wheel kicks. Makdessi continues to work him over. Cruickshank content to get hit as time runs out.

10-9 Makdessi.

I’ve got it 29-28 Makdessi, but a 30-27 for him would not be out of line.
