UFC 150 Post-Fight: How Did Frankie Edgar Lose?

Just did a quick look through the Internets to see if there was anyone out there that thought Benson Henderson actually won tonight’s main event (I scored it 49-46 for Frankie Edgar).

Round 3 was close. I just watched the 5th again. It still doesn’t look close. I’ve gotten lots of emails from our followers asking how that could happen. The answer is that the judges don’t know what they are doing. There’s no conspiracy or anything. Stuff like this happens all the time. Frank Mir is in the studio saying that he didn’t think it was close. [[MORE]]

According to esteemed MMA scribe Ariel Helwani, one judge had it 49-46 for Edgar, with Frankie winning every round except the first. That was how I scored the fight as well.

The other two judges gave rounds one, three and four to Henderson. Henderson won the first round for sure. Giving the 3rd to Henderson is totally understandable as well. It was a really close round. But you’d have to be insane or blind to give Henderson the 4th. I thought the fifth was closer than the fourth. I might be able to understand it if they gave Henderson the fifth, but the fourth! Jeez. What a terrible decision. So bad for the sport.

I’ve been scouring the internet, looking for anyone who thought that Edgar lost the fourth. I’ll watch it again tomorrow, but I would love to hear a justification for that one.
