UFC 143 Live: Scott Jorgenson vs Renan Barao

Renan Barao has a long unbeaten streak and always looks really good. Scott Jorgenson has been on a tear, aside from his loss to the champ. Jorgenson is a great wrestler and he’s really, really strong. This should be a great fight.

Round 1-Jorgenson got popped with a jab. Barao throws a spinning back-kick, followed by a superman punch. Jorgenson goes for the takedown, but Barao pushes him off. Jorgenson is getting popped over and over. Jorgenson shoots and pushes Barao against the cage. Barao turns him around and they’re back in the center of the ring. 

Jorgenson lands a nice right. Barao is landing a ton of leg kicks. Barao pins Jorgenson against the fance and lands a few. Barao lands a spinning back-kick to the face. Barao lands a few more shots as the round ends. Barao 10-9.

Round 2-Jorgenson shoots again and Barao fights him off easily. That was some really impressive takedown defense. Barao is winning on the feet. Jorgenson shoots and pulls guard this time. Nice strategy trying to change where the fight takes place, but Barao is pretty slick on the ground, so Scott better be careful. Jorgenson is able to stand up, having done no damage on the ground.

Jorgenson lands a left. Nice spinning back-kick by Barao. Jorgenson lands a nice left. Barao with another leg kick. Jorgenson is landing some shots on the feet, but he isn’t winning the fight there. Barao 10-9.

Round 3-Scott needs to finish this fight. Jorgenson is pushing the action, but he’s getting lit up. He’s not moving his head at all. Barao is bleeding from the nose, but he still looks like he’s getting the best of every exchange. Barao is still landing shots and throwing leg kicks. Barao 10-9.

I’m scoring it 30-27 Barao. He looked sharper in every facet of the fight. The judges agree across the board.
