UFC 141: Nate Diaz vs Donald Cerrone

I give Nate Diaz a much better chance to win than he’s getting from the oddsmakers. But Donald Cerrone has looked really good in his last few fights and is the stronger fighter. Nate has the advantage on the ground and might also be able to win a decision via volume punching on the feet.

Wow, Bruce Buffer’s blackwatch tuxedo is the most heinous formalwear I’ve ever seen.

Round 1-Fighters don’t touch gloves. Cerrone comes out swinging and Diaz ties him up against the cage. Cerrone is letting Nate tie him up. That isn’t a good plan as Nate has sick judo throws. Nate is teeing off. Compton boxing involves lots of punching, not necessarily at full speed. Nate is landing at will.

Cerrone eating jabs like you wouldn’t believe. He looks terrible. He needs to land a haymaker because Diaz is landing ten shots for every shot he takes. Cerrone looks like he slipped while going for the head kick. I think Cerrone’s jaw is broken already. Diaz is beating him up badly. Ouch, Diaz just landed three punches to Cerrone’s busted face.

10-9 Diaz. The judges have been giving out 10-8 rounds with abandon and that was the best round we’ve seen all night, so look for at least one judge to score it 10-8.

Round 2-Cerrone lands a leg kick, but Diaz stands up and lands a flurry of punches. The reach advantage is a big problem for Cerrone. Cerrone is snapping leg kicks this round. Diaz gets Cerrone’s back against the fence, but Cowboy is out. Nate lands a nice punch against the cage. Cerrone lands a good kick to the head, but lets Nate stand. Cowboy lands another solid leg kick.

Nate still jabbing steadily to the face. Cerrone apparently doesn’t believe in blocking.  Diaz lands another punch which staggers Cerrone. Diaz lands a few more punches before the round ends. 10-9 Diaz.

Round 3-Nate Diaz starts the round by giving Cerrone the double middle fingers. Compton Class right there. Nate starts by landing a nice right hook. Nate lands another three-punch combo. Can’t wait to see the Compubox stats on this one. Cerrone is eating a ton of punches.

Cerrone needs a knockout at this point. He’s not winning this one on the cards. But he seems content to throw leg kicks. Jeez, another, brutal combination from Diaz. Cowboy sweeps and Diaz slips. Cowboy lets him up. I get that Diaz is dangerous on the ground, but he is beating Cerrone badly on the feet. Donald needs to try something different.

Nate is murdering Cerrone right now. It’s terrible to watch. Cerrone sweeps again. Diaz falls. Cerrone does nothing. Stupid. Cerrone is still not trying to win the fight, but does land a nice head kick. 10-9 Diaz.

Diaz won that won for sure. I believe I’m five-for-five on my underdog picks or something close so I hope you’re taking the advice.

Judges score it 30-27 (twice) and 29-28 for Diaz. How the heck did Cerrone win two rounds? These judges are blind.
