UFC 141 Live: Nam Pham vs Jimy Hettes
by Dr. Octagon, J.D.
Jimy Hettes looks like a total wimp. (Ms. Octagon has taken to calling him Mark Zuckerbeg, ouch.) But he’s a stifling Judo player with great submissions.
Round 1-Hettes shoots but Nam gets up. Hettes drags Pham to the ground again and goes for the choke. Hettes landing a ton of shots from the top. Pham getting rocked, but eventually is able to stand up. Hettes with a nice hip toss and steps over for the full mount. Jimy is going for the arm bar, but Nam has his hands together. Hettes lands a number of shots with Nam’s arm tied up. Hettes with the full mount and landing blows as the round ends. 10-9 Hettes after one.
Round 2-Hettes wraps Pham up immediately, but Pham gets free. Hettes goes for the takedown again and gets it. Pham is bleeding from the eye. Hettes has the full mount and goes for a choke, but he’s up too high and doesn’t get it. Nam is on top now, but Hettes is able to stand. He pushes Nam against the cage and punches him. Hettes gets another takedown. Pham is totally outclassed. Pham gets up, but Hettes scores another takedown into side control. Nam up again but is totally spent as the round ends. 10-9 Hettes, he wins the first two.
I just finished an entire bag of tortilla chips. They were multi-grain though, so it’s cool.
Round 3-Judo Jim scores another takedown and Nam is trying to stand up against the cage. He stands up but gets taken down again. Hettes is looking pretty good in the standup as well. Hettes gets the takedown starts hammering Pham with the ground and pound. Hettes tries for the finish, but Nam survives. 10-9 Hettes. He’s got a clean sweep on our card 30-27.
Judges score it 30-25 (twice) and 30-26 Hettes. Those are the most lopsided scores I’ve ever seen. I don’t score a 10-8 round without a near knockout, but there’s no doubt Hettes won every round.
