UFC 126 Liveblog: Silva v. Belfort

Channing Tatum is hyping his new movie the Eagle.  We hate it when they have long ads in Pay Per View. We just paid $44.99 plus tax for this shit and we still have to see ads for shitty movies that show just what advertisers think about the MMA-fan demographic.

First sign Anderson isn’t taking this fight seriously: he wore a mask to the weigh in.  Second sign: Anderson has Steven Segal in his corner, who according to Joe Rogan has “helped Anderson with some techniques.” If Anderson walks out of his corner and immediately breaks Befort’s wrist, you’ll know his work with Segal has paid off.  Let’s just hope Anderson doesn’t spend the last couple of rounds clowning around.

Ms. Octagon was put to sleep by the senior circuit contest and she finds embroidery exciting.  Hopefully we’ll see a fucking knockout.

Time to see whether all this nonsense about Belfort’s “boxing advantage."  We feel like they are trying to pretend like this is going to be a close contest.  Then again, Bodog has Belfort at +175.  We wouldn’t take him unless he was +300.  Probably still wouldn’t actually.  If you can’t knock out James Zikic, you don’t have a "boxing advantage” against the best striker in the sport.  Sorry.  Knocking out Ace Franklin just isn’t that impressive.

Round 1- Anderson does his usual circling slowly and pretending to punch.  Wish there was a bet for no punches thrown in the first minute, it would have just paid off nicely.  Anderson is doing some hand jive , but not really closing.  Belfort throws a weak leg kick.  Silva goes for a foot stomp jab combo, neither lands.  Anderson looks like he might start punching in a little bit with two minutes up in round 1.

Vitor throws another leg kick, but doesn’t look like he means it.  Now he is doing some ridiculous bullshit with his hands. Vitor finally decided to chase Anderson and landed a punch.  Anderson taken down after going for a head kick, but pops right back up and tags Vitor with knee.

Anderson with the front kick.  Few punches.  Front kick to the face by Silva.  Highlight reel shot.

Vitor is out and Anderson looks like he doesn’t want to hit him, but the ref hasn’t jumped in yet so Anderson follows up with another two punches to the chin for good measure to prove he is out.

It is really, really hard to get KOed by Anderson Round One.  He didn’t even start moving until there were two minutes left in the round.

Anderson is yammering in Portugese for about 2 minutes now.  I hope his translator has a good memory because he really hasn’t stopped to let him speak.  He thanked all his friends.

Maybe we’ll get to see an undercard fight because that one was over 20 minutes early.
