Thiago Perpetuo vs. Leonardo Mafra

Probably not buying the pay per view tonight.  Worst card I think I’ve ever seen.  I like Ace Franklin and Wanderlei as much as anyone, but I don’t know if I can justify paying for it.  The card was supposed to feature Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen, but after all the inflammatory comments Sonnen made about brazilians. Round 1: Leg kick from Perpetuo.  Mafra comes back with a few leg kicks of his own.  Mafra charges forward whiffing.  Nice kick to the body by Mafra.  Mafra coming forward with a left and right hook.  Mafra comes forward throwing kicks.  Perpetuo comes forward swinging and ties up Mafra against the cage.  Mafra gets in a short punch as they disengage.  Fighters trade leg kicks.  Perpetuo just connected twice with nice punches.  Perpetuo threw a big head kick, but Mafra came back with a knee and Perpetuo’s right eye looks pretty swollen.  Mafra lands a nice right, but Perpetuo keeps coming forward throwing.  Mafra whiffs, Perpetuo connects.  Perpetuo kicks and Mafra returns with a punch.  Perpetuo lands a big punch and then ties up Mafra.  Perpetuo going for the single, but lets it go and has Mafra up against the cage.  Mafra is now bleeding from the eye.  Perpetuo working knees.  Lands an elbow as the round ends.

Close round.  I have Perpetuo 10-9 with the better strikes.

Round 2- Mafra is swinging wildly still.  Perpetuo goes to the body and then to the head. Mafra is throwing a ton of punches, but they’re not landing.  Perpetuo goes for the takedown, but Mafra has an arm.  Perpetuo spins out of it and is on top against the cage with three and a half minutes to work.  Mafra landing punches from the bottom.  Mafra has the arm and then loses the arm.  Perpetuo trying to work from the top, but Mafra has an active guard.  Perpetuo dropping heavy elbows now.  Perpetuo really posturing up now and landing punches.  Mafra is taking a savage beating, and there is still a minute left to go.  He is breathing out of his mouth hard.  Perpetuo lands more strikes as the round ends.

Round 3- Perpetuo throws a superman punch.  Body kick by Perpetuo.  Right hook to the head and Mafra is down.  Perpetuo lands about a dozen punches on the ground before Mario Yamasaki ends the fight.
