DETROIT, Mich.–Detroit is a city of harsh winters and glorious summers, of tremendous beauty and brutal decay. It is the birthplace of industrialization, and the greatest victim of White Flight. Detroit has always been defined by segregation, by the stark contrast between its various aspects. Detroit is a collection of various cultures, genres, styles and races pressed closely together, but never quite mixing. Everything here is taken straight up, never watered down.
