T.J. Cook vs Ovince St. Preux

Round 1: St. Proux with a head kick. Cook with a nasty inside leg kick. Head kick by Ovince. Leg kick by Cook. Cook with a left hook, but then Ovince pushes him against the cage. Looks like a cut over Cook’s left eye. T.J. gets off the cage. Shot to the body by T.J. Cook. Ovince lands a huge punch and Cook is down. Ovince is lighting him up on the ground.

I am shocked that the ref hasn’t stopped it yet, no one would complain if he did, but Cook is getting up and is popping Ovince right back. That was a ridiculous exchange. Ovince whiffed on an uppercut and Cook lands a bodyshot. Looks like Cook slipped.  St. Preux gets a single leg and is in half guard looking for a key lock, but Cook gets the arm out. St. Preux with a really nice elbow from the top. Cook is able to work to the feet and the fighters swing wildly. Ovince lands a jab.

10-9 Ovince in an electrifying first round. St. Preux needs an oxygen tank. T.J. was lucky Herb Dean wasn’t reffing, as he had a really early stoppage earlier tonight.

Round 2: The fighters start tentative and referee Yosemite Sam tells them to work. Ovince lands a kick to the body. Left kick to the body by St. Proux. Both these bros are totally gassed. Big left head kick from Ovince. Cook landed an uppercut and a right. Big right from Cook. Ovince with a jab. Jab by Ovince. Kick to the nads by Ovince St. Proux and the ref with the silly moustaches tells St. Preux to chill with the kicks. Perfect for T.J., who was tired and is taking all the time he needs to catch his breath.

The ref says that if he recovers too long, he is going to get the doctor, but the fighter has five minutes so I don’t know what the fuck he is talking about. However, the ref’s absurd moustache clearly signifies that he does not play by the rules.

Ovince kicks over Cook’s head and gets tagged. Cook is working the body but St. Preux shoots hard and gets a takedown. Cook tries for an armbar, but doesn’t sink it. Ovince has side control, goes for a North-South choke, lets it go and goes back to side control. Ref tells them to work while St. Preux works for a submission. Full mount from Ovince, he’s posturing up and landing punches. Cook gives up his back, then flips back over. Ten seconds left and Cook is able to stay alive.

Round 3: T.J. Cook looks very tired. Ovince lands a huge left right to Cook’s chin, Cook goes down hard and hits his head on the mat hard. Ovince doesn’t even think about following it up. That was that bad. Shit. Nice way to start the main card.
