Stefan Struve vs Mark Hunt

Let’s hope this fight can break the streak of terrible, boring contests. Interesting style matchup here, tall guy versus fat guy. If I know anything from NES hockey, the tall guy is fast and the fat guy is good at knocking people down. Also, Mark Hunt is 38 and Stefan Struve is 25. So, it’s an old fat guy against a young skinny guy.
Struve needs to keep his distance by using the jab and wear down the chubby Hunt, while avoiding getting knocked out. Mark Hunt is one foot shorter than Struve and the same weight. Struve looks like he’s put on some muscle. I’m picking Mark Hunt by KO. Live updates after the jump:[[MORE]]
Round 1: Struve throws a head kick. Hunt lands a right hand. Leg kick from Hunt. Body punch by Hunt. Leg kick from hunt. Push kick from Struve. Big left from Hunt just misses. Body punches from Hunt. The fighters clinch and Struve pulls guard. I hate it when guys do that.
Struve sweeps Hunt and is in full mount with 2:40 left to work. It looks like pulling guard was a good move. Struve postures up and is raining down shots on Hunt, who gives up his back. Struve has an arm, but Hunt pulls his arm out and is on top. Hunt lands a nice right. Struve is looking for a triangle, but Hunt gets out of it. Struve is trying to sweep, but Hunt ends up in side control.
10-9 Struve, I guess.
Round 2: Hunt comes forward, lands a right, and a big left hook. Struve lands a jab. Hunt comes in and lands a punch to the body. Hunt lands a right. Jab from Hunt. Struve landing the jab, but Hunt just walks through it and tees off on him. Body kick by Struve. Struve just lets Hunt get in close and punch him every time.
Hunt trips Struve and is in his guard. Get the fuck out of there bra. Hunt tries to get out, but Struve pulls him back down and goes for a foot lock. Hunt gets out and Struve pulls him back down. Hunt has passed the guard and is in side control, but Struve is able to stand. The fighters go to the ground and Struve is in the full mount with a minute left to work; he’s posturing up and punching. Struve goes for an armbar and loses his grip, now Hunt is on top. Hunt is more concerned with getting enough oxygen than putting on any offense, Struve lands some elbows to his head.
Round 3: Struve is content to block and Hunt get really close to punch him. Hunt lands a huge left hook. Struve lands a jab. Hunt lands a nice combination. Struve lands a kick to the face. Hunt lands an overhand right.
Both fighters are too tired to keep their hands up. Hunt is pouring it on. Hunt punches Struve and walks away. Referee Herb Dean thinks about stopping it for a little while, then finally does when he sees that Struve is googly-eyed and not standing up. Hunt by KO.
