Sergio Martinez vs. Sergiy Dzinziruk
MASHANTUCKET, Conn–We’re live from ringside for the main event at Foxwoods. Amazing how calm Sergio looks. Dzinziruk, on the other hand, looks pretty nervous. Guess we’ll find out how legit that undefeated record is.
Round 1- Martinez is working the jab, gloves down, excellent head movement. Sergio throws a million jabs. Doesn’t do much damage, but probably wins the round.
Round 2- Martinez is starting to mix in hooks to the body. Close round, but I think Martinez took it.
Round 3- Sergio is snapping the Ukrainian’s head back with the jab, but not landing much else. Dzinziruk isn’t landing really at all.
Round 4-Sergio landing a combo, looks like Sergiy slipped and his knee went down but they called it a knockdown. Dzinziruk takes a standing eight count. Sergio is landing more often as Dzinziruk’s hands start to drop a bit. Sergiy comes back with a few combos of his own, but winds up landing an accidental low blow.
Round 5- Wish they would show the knockdown again on the big screen but they don’t. Sergio is letting the gloves fly a little more now and throwing some combos. Still not putting his hands up until he gets in close and Dzinziruk makes him pay for it with a crisp right to the chin.
Sergio scores another knockdown with a three punch combo ending with a right to the side of the head while Dzinziruk was on the way down at the end of the round. Dzinziruk takes another standing eight count. That knockdown was legit for sure.
Round 6- Both fighters are letting the fists fly. Sergio got the better of the exchanges.
Round 7- Dzinziruk is starting to score a few more shots, but Sergio is still landing his jab. Close round.
Round 8- Bell rings and Sergio’s corner guys are still hanging out in the ring. Never seen that happen before.
Sergio lands what looks like a straight left to the chin. Dzinziruk is down and hurt badly.
He manages to get up, but once the ref is done counting Sergio swarms him again and scores another knockdown. Standing eight count again, Sergio runs over and finishes the fight, winning by TKO.
