Rick Story vs Martin Kampmann

Martin Kampmann is a slight dog here, but I’m picking him to win. Rick Story hasn’t had any good wins besides one against Thiago Alves, who is notorious for not showing up due to trouble cutting weight. He was exposed by high school Spanish teacher Charlie Brennaman who filled in for Nate “can’t pass a piss test” Marquardt. I think Story is overrated and will get murdered by Martin Kampmann, who has looked really great in his last two losses. Round-by-round updates after the jump:
Round 1-Story wants to box with Kampmann and catches him hard against the cage. Jeez. Didn’t see that coming. Kampmann is all about counterpunching, for which MMA judges are notorious for lacking appreciation.
Story is throwing wild bombs. Nice combo by Story. The Dane is looking tentative so far. Story looks much bigger than Kampmann. Tough round to score, but I think that Story gets it for throwing the bigger shots.
Round 2-Kampmann is getting popped. He’s going to have to increase the aggression if he wants to win this one. He’s crisp with his punches, but Rick Story’s wild hooks are going to get more credit from the judges. Kampmann is landing the straight right at will. Story swings wildly but Kampmann shakes his head to show that he wasn’t bothered by it.
Kampmann gets a takedown via trip on Story. Kampmann is going for the arm triangle. Story is bleeding like a freshly-killed prostitute. Kampmann rides out the round and is certainly won that one. 10-9 Kampmann.
Round 3-Kampmann is going for the takedown after seeing how ladylike Story was on his back last round. He gets it, but Story pops back up. Fighters break up and they exchange in the center. Kampmann shoots for the takedown and doesn’t get it. Story goes for a takedown against the cage, but the Dane stands back up and gets Story in the Thai clinch, lands a few knees and pushes Story up against the cage.
Story looks like he is on life support right now, just trying to hang on until the end of the round as Kampmann struggles to take him down. Martin has his back. The unwashed masses boo at the slight lull in the action. Martin with the suplex, but Story pops back up. Story better do something here, because he is losing the fight.
Story gets the takedown and Kampmann gets back up and takes Story’s back. Story gave up his back like a bitch and Kampmann is going for a choke with 10 seconds left. He’s not going to get it and the fight ends.

The Dane should get this one unless the judges buttfuck him again. I called this one so all of you who wagered on Kampmann can send me a small donation to help me pay for this pay per view as my scoundrel editor has trousered all the revenue from the site.
Judges score it 29-28 Story (Holy Shit! I told you one of these guys is a fucking retard) 30-27 and 29-28 for Kampmann.
Kampmann’s style really doesn’t lend itself well to the judges, who apparently prefer wild misses to precise contact (Editor’s note: Juan Manuel Marquez can empathize). The first round could have gone either way and I’m guessing the last two judges differed on it. I don’t know how the hell the first judge gave two or three rounds to Story, but I would be willing to bet it’s the same guy who scored two 10-8 rounds in the previous fight.
