Rich Franklin v. Forrest Griffin

They’re saying Rich “Ace” Franklin is up a weight class because he fights better at this weight. That’s not really true. The real reason is that he is never going to beat headliner Anderson Silva at middleweight.

This fight is far less interesting to me than the Jon Jones fight.  I don’t think either of these guys is ever going to get another title shot.  They’re both past their prime.  We hate cops so we’re rooting for Ace even though he’s wearing pink trunks that look like a bathing suit from the eighties.

Just polished off a bottle of scotch.  Hopefully this is over soon so we can catch a fight from the undercard before the Brazilians go at it. 

Round 1-Forrest with a lazy head kick.  Ace with a body kick and is taken down.  As noted by Joe Rogan, Forrest is way bigger than Ace, so this is a really shitty position to be in with four minutes to burn.  Forrest isn’t doing a ton of damage from the top, and Ace is working the closed guard like a pro, but he must be tired after that.

Round 2-Fighters exchange punches, nothing notable landed in the first minute.  Forrest gets the takedown and has Ace’s back.  Rich gets up.  Rich eats a left hook.  Ace is starting to land some body kicks and punches.

Round 3-Ace lands a leg kick and a body kick.  Wild punches are thrown.  Rich needs to avoid the clinch.  Forrest is way bigger than him.  Franklin needs a knockout.  This fight fucking sucks.  Co-Main-Event my ass.  Franklin lands a decent right.  Forrest goes for the takedown and gets it, but Franklin pops back up and gets top position.  Forrest reverses the position in the scramble.  Fight ends in the clinch.

Judges score it 29-28. Rogan hypes Forrest’s book.  That fight stunk.  Hopefully Silva doesn’t clown around in the title fight.
