Sam Stout vs. Caros Fodor: Damn Fodor’s got some serious ink on his back. That shit must have taken forever. In the first round, Fodor was aggressive, but Sam Stout got a takedown and worked some solid ground and pound to take the round. I didn’t see that coming, but Stout looked pretty capable on the ground and was threatening with an armbar as the round ended. [[MORE]]

Second round was really close. Sam probably landed more punches, but he ate a few crisp shots from Fodor as well. It’s hard to tell how much pop is behind Fodor’s shots, because Stout walks through everything. Close round, I had it for Stout. Third round Fodor got a takedown and didn’t do shit with it. Not much else happened, but Fodor probably landed more shots and was controlling Stout for the first few minutes. Pretty close fight overall. I had it 29-28 Stout

Judges score it 29-28 Fodor and 29-28 Stout (twice) by split decision.

There was an advertisement for the robot combat league. It’s about time that we humans have gotten serious about robot combat.

Dennis Bermudez vs. Matt Grice: In the first round Grice had a failed takedown attempt that Bermudez turned into a full mount; Bermudez punched Grice about a thousand times before he was able to get back up. Grice has a godawful tiger tattoo on his back. Grice looked way better in the standing after they got separation and rocked Bermudez with a huge left hook. A tough round to score. Apparently Bermudez landed 40 punches on the ground. Grice’s ear looks mangled. Great round.  I’m scoring it for Grice.

In the second, Grice continued to land the better punches, but Bermudez pushed the action. In the beginning of the third, Bermudez rocked Grice with a right uppercut in close and didn’t let up with the ground and pound. Grice was able to work to his feet, where Bermudez absolutely pummeled him. Grice looked like he was out on his feet, but Herb Dean let them keep going, Matt Grice might be impossible to knock out.

Dennis Bermudez must have set a record for punches in the third round. He was killing Grice. I do not know how he stayed standing. Grice is an animal. Grice somehow kept his wits about him and kept throwing.  0-8  Bermudez. That made it a draw from me.

Judges score it 29-28 Grice and 29-28 Bermudez (twice).

These judges are not giving out 10-8 rounds. Glad to see Bermudez win that one, although I scored it a draw. I fucking hate draws and Bermudez had the better fight regardless of the scoring.  That third round was spectacular.

Michael Chiesa vs. Anton Kuivanen: Not a lot happened in the first round, but the Finn did better work, with a few more punches, which also seemed to have more pop behind them.  In the second round though Chiesa refused to give up a takedown, basically grabbed an ankle, then a single, then a double, then just sort of pushed Kuivanen against the fence and jumped on Kuivanen’s back and sunk in the rear naked for the victory to remain undefeated.

Chiesa by rear naked choke.

Brendan Schaub vs. Lavar Johnson: Three rounds of Brendan Schaub getting punched while on top of Lavar Johnson as the crowd booed and the ref told him to work. Terrible fight. 30-27 for Schaub unanimously.
