Nick Diaz v. Daley
Expecting Daley to have the edge on the feet, but Nick Diaz looks way bigger than Daley. Looks like he’s in a different weight class. Diaz will certainly have the advantage on the ground; he has sick BJJ and is fighting a Brit, who are all notoriously weak on the ground.
Round 1-Diaz decides to trade with Semtex and is getting lit up badly. Looks like he caught a major shot and went down. Daley went for a kick to the head of his downed opponent that would have been totally illegal if Diaz didn’t dodge it. Daley is a fucking moron, we knew that after he punched Josh Koschek in the back of the head after the fight.
This is a fucking slugfest.
Diaz is now lighting Daley up on the feet and has him on the ground; although Daley is on the top, he does not want to be here. He is fucking brain dead and should just get the fuck out of there, and he lets Diaz get up.
Daley’s vaunted boxing does not looks so sharp as Diaz follows him around the ring teeing off. Never thought it would be a good idea for Diaz, but he is getting the better off the striking. Diaz walks through a huge knee and stalks Daley around the ring.
Diaz got caught and went down hard, but Big John is letting them fight on. Daley now on top of Diaz raining down shots. Diaz is on his back daring Daley to fall into his guard and big John stands them up.
Fighters decide to trade again at the end of the round and Daley is on his back and looks like he is almost out. Diaz is popping him and Big John stops the fight.
That might have been one of the most exciting one rounders we’ve ever seen. Never thought we’d see Diaz win that one with striking, but Daley is motherfucking out on his feet and being dragged onto a chair. Daley almost won that fight more than once, but just couldn’t close.
Post-fight interview: Nick Diaz says that he wasn’t hurt. He amazingly walked through most of the smaller Daley’s shots, but was certainly staggered by a few of them. Going to have to rewind and watch that one again. Definitely one of the best fights Strikeforce has ever put on.
According to the analytics there were 164 strikes thrown in the round, around 90 of which were landed. Can’t believe how active both fighters were.
