Nick Diaz Tests Positive For Weed

Yeah I know, big surprise right. /sarcasm   

In the interest of keeping everything fair and balanced, we’re reporting this. For the record, I don’t give a fuck if Nick Diaz smokes weed when he’s training for a fight. It doesn’t give him an unfair advantage and it’s legal in his home state.

He probably shouldn’t be doing it, but if the Nevada State Athletic Commission is spending its obviously constrained resources on one thing, it should be the results of the steroid tests it did three weeks ago before the fight rather than after. This is Diaz’s third failed test, so it is likely that he will be at the same hearing as Anderson Silva, who if you’re not paying attention, was just revealed to have tested positive for two different steroids.

It is also conceivable, that Diaz, due to his repeat offender status, will be given a far harsher penalty than Anderson Silva. He will certainly receive a harsher penalty than Jon Jones, who recently tested positive for cocaine. Coke is illegal in every state, way worse for you than weed, yet for some reason the NSAC treats it much more leniently.

For Diaz, who took a long layoff after his last fight, and Silva who was talking about retiring anyway, the incoming suspensions will probably not be that big of a concern. But the financial penalties may be large. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out in the NSAC’s kangaroo court.
