Miguel Torres v. Banuelos

And the Pay-Per-View segment of the programming has begun with the usual terrible Nu-Metal-Rap-Metal tune.  Again they are saying that Belfort has the fastest hands in UFC history.

Banuelos comes out to Rancid’s Time Bomb.  Haven’t heard that shit in a while.

Miguel Torres comes out to some Mexican folk song and his Meximullet is looking particularly patchy tonight.

Torres has a 13" reach advantage, which is completely absurd.

Round 1-Feeling out process, Torres is just picking away at Banuelos from long distance.  He could stay at this distance the whole fight and not get touched.  Banuelos needs to close the distance or this fight is going to be terrible.  Leg kick by Torres and Banuelos gets a takedown, but inexplicably lets Torres up.  Don’t know why he thinks he is going to win this one on his feet.  We think Banuelos landed one shot that whole round.   Crowd is showing displeasure.

Round 2-Torres is starting to get a little closer and land more jabs.  Banuelos is still missing by about a foot.  More boos.  Banuelos lands a punch, barely.  Finally a little action near the end.  Boring round.  Torres looks like he might fall asleep between rounds.

Round 3-Still boring, lots of jabs.  Banuelos looks scared to engage.  He has no chance of winning this fight without engaging and he doesn’t seem to care.  Torres picking up the pace a little bit. Banuelos decids to start wildly swinging with 20 seconds left.  Not much of a strategist this one.

Torres can take another fight tomorrow. He barely got touched.  What a boring UFC debut for Miguel Torres, who was once one of the most exciting fighters in the WEC.

Judges score it 30-27 Torres.
