The pride of Nova Scotia, Roger Hollett has been in the fight game for a long time. His father was the middleweight champ of Canada. Matt Hamill is the only man to have beaten Jon Jones, although they don’t really talk about that since it was a bullshit stoppage.

Hamill is deaf and has an inspirational film called The Hammer that is streaming on Netflix. He comes in to The Working Man by Rush. He’s impressing the Canadian audience by playing pre-Neil Peart Rush. Hamill was retired for a while, but now he’s back and claims to be healed. He’s the heavy favorite, but who knows if he’ll have ring rust.

Ring announcer Bruce Buffer proves his reservoir of ugly tuxedos is deep with a black and blue number, paired with blue pants and a black necktie. Not his worst, but still not up to the standards of his half-brother Michael, who always looks sharp. Live updates after the jump:[[MORE]]

Round 1: Hamill with a leg kick.  Hammil coming forward, pumping the jab.  Hollett throws an overhand right and a left hook to the body.  Hamill with a kick to the body.  Hamill with a leg kick.  Roger looks tentative.  Overhand right from Hollett.  Left from Roger.  Roger coming forward now, but blocked.  Left from Matt.  Leg kicks from Roger.  Hammil is keeping his hands low and Roger isn’t really making him pay so far.  Crowd is booing.  Hammil goes for a takedown and dumps Roger on the ground and is hammering the turtled Hollett.  Hollett works to the feet and lands a few shots.  Hammil walks back to the wrong corner.

Round 2: Roger is lunging in with big punches.  Big bodyshot by Roger.  Hamill looks tired, but Hollett doesn’t have much for him.  Hollett tries to kick and Hamill takes him down.  Dan Miragliotta tells them to work, but Hammill is deaf, so he probably didn’t hear him.  Hollett gets back up to his feet.  Hollett throws a spinning back kick.  Hollett stands straight up with his hands down and throws single strikes.  It’s not the most effective style.  Hamill looks tired and Hollett lands a leg kick.  Hammill goes for a lazy takedown attempt and Hamill half-heartedly stuffs it.  The fight is there for the taking if Roger picks up the pace, but he doesn’t seem too interested in attacking.  Crowd is booing lustily. Hollett goes for a spinning back elbow and Hamill gets a takedown to clearly win the actionless round.

This fight sucks.

Round 3: Hollett lands a left hook.  Both of these bums are tired.  Hamill gets a takedown and starts working the ground and pound.  Hollett turtles again and Hamill hammers him again.  The Canucks are not pleased to see one of their countrymen get beaten so savagely.  You’re never going to see Hollett in the UFC again.  He looked terrible.  Hollett rolls on to his back again.  Turtles again and starts hitting Hollett again.  Hollett lands an elbow as Hammil stands. Hammil gets another takedown.  Gets it and is on top.  Big Dan stands them up with a minute left to go.  Hollett throws a haymaker, but Hamill ducks under it and mashes Hollett into the fence and dumps him on the ground.

I score this one 30-26.

Judges score it 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27 for Hamill. I guess one judge gave Roger the second. None gave out a 10-8 round for the first.
