Live: Charlie Brenneman vs Erick Silva

Charlie Brenneman is a stifling wrestler. He either wins decisions or gets knocked out. He also had that big upset against the overhyped Rick Story.

Round 1: Erick Silva punches, shoots, and eats a knee. The Spaniard has his hands down and is dancing around like Andy Silva. Silva throws a spin kick, Brenneman swarms and gets a fleeting takedown. Silva pops up and Brenneman has the smaller man against the cage. Brenneman works a trip and Silva is going for the heel hook. Brenneman rolls out and piles on the pressure. He has Silva up against the cage again.

The ref warns the fighters to work twice, then breaks them up.  You warn the fighters to work first. Silva throws a kick that gets blocked. Brenneman swarms and gets a takedown, he’s Fitching the shit out of Silva’s legs. Silva is able to stand up. He’s working elbows to the head of Brenneman, who’s pinned against the cage. The ref tells them to work again and Brenneman dutifully starts punching weakly. The ref is telling them to work some more. He breaks them up again. I think Brenneman is tired out.

Silva throws a spin kick. Brenneman throws a big right and then shoots again. I think Charlie ate a knee in the last exchange. Silva landed an uppercut too. Silva throws a spin kick, but Brenneman returns fire. Brenneman shoots, but Silva now has Brenneman’s back and has a rear naked choke. It’s in perfectly.
