Kimbo to fight Shamrock

In a fight that is certain to interest folks who were casual fans of MMA five or ten years ago, former Youtube knockout artist Kimbo Slice is set to fight Ken Shamrock as headliners of a Bellator event on June 20th.  This fight is most likely a setup for Shamrock to get another crack at Tito Ortiz, who beat Shamrock thrice in a series of fights taking place in the first half of the prior decade.

That is to say, Scott Coker is a genius at doing whatever he can with Bellator’s extremely limited stable of fighters.  Is this fight going to feature top level MMA?  Not a snowball’s chance in hell with Kimbo involved.  The thing is though, that if you go ask your friends who these guys are, they’re much more likely to recognize them than Demetrious Johnson or TJ Dillashaw.  I can sit here and shit on the skills of these guys all I want, but these geezer have name recognition and that’s going to get a lot of eyeballs on Bellator’s card on June 20th.
