Ken Stone vs Erik Perez

Bantamweight fight here. Erik Perez’s last victory was an early stoppage by Kim Winslow if I remember correctly. Herb Dean is reffing this one, so that BS hopefully won’t happen again.

Round 1: Leg kick from Perez. The fighters exchange, and Ken Stone lands a right that doesn’t faze Perez. Perez lands a right hand that staggers Stone, who hits his head on the mat. Perez follows him to the ground and lands five punches to Stone’s face before Herb Dean jumps in to stop it.

Stone is going to complain that it was an early stoppage, but a number of undefended punches landed before Herb Dean jumped in. If Herb let it keep going, maybe Stone would have been able to continue, but it is just as likely that he would have gotten popped another 10 times. If it was a title fight, maybe Dean would have given Stone a bit longer, but honestly, when his head hit the mat, he looked rattled.
