K.J. Noons vs. Josh Thomson

K.J. Noons and Josh Thomson are bros outside the cage, but in the cage they’re not bros and so they’ll probably put on a pretty good fight.  K.J.’s fights are usually pretty exciting.

Round 1- Josh Thomson is grinning and catches K.J. with a ront kick and a leg kick.  K.J. lands a weak jab.  Thompson goes for a spin kick and falls down.  K.J. throws a big ick, but it is blocked.  Thomson come swith a trip and then a kick to the head then goes for the single leg, and takes Noons  down, but K.J. gets over to the cage and is sitting up.  Noons is landing strikes and sitting up in the cage.  Thomson isn’t doing anything.  Me aborda.  Fans are booing.  Thomson is landing some ineffective elbows.

Round 2- Noons misses a superman punch K.J. wants to strike and Thomson throws a head kick and falls and Noons is on the top, but Thomson is able to get up and is working for the takedown himself.  Drags K.J. to the ground via the double leg takedown and we’ve got another round of lay and pray.  K.J. Noons is mugging for the crowd looking totally bored.  The ref really needs to stand them up if Thomson isn’t going to do anything.  This is terrible.  Finally Thomson starts throwing elbows, but barely.  Thomson is staying just active enough to avoid being stood up.  The ref stands them up.  He lets Thomson grab Noons’ legs without doing anything for a full minute and once Thomson starts working he stands them up.  Terrible officiating.  K.J. lands an uppercut and some more punches  K.J. is cut over his left eye.  K.J. lands some more shots, but Thomson gets the takedown again and again is just sitting on Noons’ legs while Noons rolls his eyes.  Thomson lands a right and some more shots as the round ends, but still hasn’t done a ton of damage.

Round 3- K.J. needs to keep this fight on the feet.  Takedown for Thomson who has a really nice arm triangle and K.J is doing his darndest to get out of it.  Noons escapes, but gives up his back.  Thomson isn’t doing shit from the back.  He is from the Jon Fitch school of stifling top control without doing any damage.  Noons keeps defending and is on the bottom  eating a few more elbows.  Thomson landing hammerfists.  K.J. looks lie he has had enough, but manages to sit up again.  Thomson is landing a few shots and throwing knees to the body as the round ends.  K.J. looks pissed because he didn’t get to fight his fight.

Judges score it unanimously 29-28 for Thomson. 

Terrible fight.  Hate that style of fighting.  I have no idea which round K.J. got from the judges.  He was on his back the whole fight.  Mauro Ranallo asks Josh how his performance was and he replies that “it was shit."  Josh said he got staph twice in his camp and he felt like shit.  Still handled Noons pretty easily.
