John Howard vs Matt Brown
John Howard has a ridiculous haircut as always, this time with an AK-47 shaved in the side of his head. Matches nicely with the advert for The Gun Store, which bought some space on both fighters’ shorts. Matt Brown coming off a string of losses and will probably get cut if he doesn’t win this one. Round-by-round scoring after the jump:
Round 1-Howard with leg kicks. Brown looking to check them. Matt Brown is on top for a second, but Howard stands up easily. Doomsday with the takedown, but Brown goes up.
Matt Brown looks like he is landing with two nice knees from the clinch. Howard is down on the ground and Brown is looking for D'arce choke, but Brown gets up and then slams Brown to the ground. Howard gets Brown’s back, but Brown is able to get up. Not sure how to score that one. Pretty even, but I think Brown gets it based on the knees.
Round 2-Brown goes for the takedown, but doesn’t get it. Howard gets his back, but they are up and in the clinch. We’re thinking Brown is going to have the advantage in the clinch because he’s taller and can get his knees up.
Howard working for the takedown and has a leg, Brown is going for a standard Guillotine. Howard pulls his head out but still doesn’t get the takedown. Brown trips Howard and gets on top of him. This fight is pretty boring and the crowd is booing. They’re tied up oddly and it looks like neither of them really knows what to do. Howard stands up.
We score it as another unconvincing round for Brown.
Round 3-Number One ring girl Arianny anchors the team and comes out to hold the card for the third round. Not much action so far. Matt Brown shoots for the takedown, gets it and then does nothing with it as Howard sits up on the cage.
John Howard gets Brown’s back and is trying to get a choke on the standing Brown, who controls his hands nicely and manages to play enough defense so as not to get caught with anything or taken down. Howard lifts Brown off the ground twice, but Brown is able to get back down to the ground.
John punches Brown in the back of the head as he runs away and attacks. Howard is blinking like he got poked in the eye, which might have explained his hasty retreat. Howard gets a takedown, but Brown is standing up against the cage as the clock winds down.
Howard gets a takedown, but isn’t doing much damage so far. Brown landing some elbows from the back. Howard tries to crank a Kimura, but the clock expires.
Another shitty round. We’ll give it to Howard, who was more active.
These guys suck. Dana White should cut both of them.
Official decision: All three judges score it 29-28 for Brown. Correct decision. At least Howard tried to win it in the third. We hate it when a guy is behind 2 rounds and dogs it in the third.
