Northern Virginia junior middleweight Jimmy Lange will headline another card at George Mason University’s Patriot Center on Saturday, February 11 against an opponent to be determined. The undercard features a local showdown at middleweight between NoVa’s Zain “Tiger” Shah and Tony “Mo Better” Jeter of Stevensville, Md.

Lange has headlined 13 previous shows at the Patriot Center following his stint on The Contender TV series and his ability to pack the venue is one of the more interesting phenomena in the sport right now. The 36-year-old has won six straight since his quest for a title shot was derailed by a points loss to Chase Shields last March. Lange earned himself a 154-lb trinket from the World Boxing Union (no idea) by knocking Raul Munoz down three times in September to record a 6th-round stoppage.

Lange has some boxing ability but cannot resist being drawn into a brawl, where his record (37-4-2, 25 KOs) indicates he is more than capable of handling himself. The recent trend has been for Jimmy to exchange early, take plenty of damage but turn it on late and win. Obviously his all-action style is a big reason why so many locals turn up faithfully to cheer him on.

It will be interesting to see who Lange’s opponent is, since the choice will likely reflect whether he’s still looking to climb the ladder for a big-money fight or is content to satisfy the local fans with someone on the club level. Lange’s thrilling win over Joe Wyatt was the first card I covered live, so this site will always look on him with favor.

Shah is a favorite of this blog and has a great backstory, while Jeter is mostly known for calling out other local fighters. Shah had hand problems that paused his career but the 37-year-old is in great shape and has plenty of talent. He would be our pick to earn the decision.

Also slated to appear are unbeaten Ashburn, Va. middleweight Tori “Sho Nuff” Wilson and welterweight prospect Todd “White Lightning” Wilson of Fairfax. Todd has built his record to 11-0 (3 KOs) while holding down a day job as a business development specialist at Booz Allen. Tori won the WBC’s middleweight title last summer by upsetting Lorissa Rivers in Trinidad & Tobago.

Tickets start at $35 and go up to $500. Jimmy Lange Boxing is the promoter with Valcourt Building Services as the presenting sponsor. Tickets are available at the Patriot Center box office and through Ticketmaster.
