Frankie Edgar Lays Chad Mendes Out in the First Round

Another great night of fights on the finale of UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter 22 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
Frankie Edgar’s boxing was simply too sharp for Chad Mendes. Frankie sprinted into the cage to Biggie, caught Chad Mendes with a right to the ear and a left to the nose, and before we knew it referee Big John was pulling Frankie off his vanquished opponent.
UFC boss Dana White left the building before Frankie could demand his title shot. They have to give him another title shot now. Edgar hasn’t lost since he fought Jose Aldo in early 2013 and finished Mendes faster than Aldo or Conor McGregor did.
In the TUF Finale Ryan Hall beat Russian-Irish Artem Lobov, in what was more or less a three round grappling clinic decision. The crowd wasn’t loving it, but it wasn’t the worst TUF Finale I’ve ever seen.
To make up for it, Tony Ferguson and Edson Barboza put on a spectacular bloodbath for the fans. It was fast-paced from the outset. Tony was docked a point for an illegal upkick in the first round, which only increased his sense of urgency.
Both men were busted up by the time Ferguson Tony locked in a D’Arce choke in the second. Bonuses haven’t been announced yet, but these two will get the fight of the night for sure.
