Whenever someone gets in trouble for saying something racist online and apologizes on Twitter, I like to check the replies because there are always a bunch of white dudes (and usually a few white women) telling him (it’s always him) that he doesn’t need to apologize, because that thing his employer found offensive isn’t really offensive unless you’re a butthurt snowflake. I like to look at these people’s twitter profiles. Aside from the obvious Russian bots and trump stooges, the others usually have very few followers. Their tweets typically consist of some angry sports tweets (often concerning Pennsylvania, Boston or Ohio teams) and some vaguely anti-PC rants. They almost always have “independent” somewhere in their profile I.e. “independent thinker”.
