Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall

This is the premier of the flyweight division. 125 pounders here people. Previously the highest weight class was 135.

Round 1- Leg kick by mighty mouse. Again. Again. Attacking that flront leg. Johnson rushes in and lans a punch. Demetrious kicking. McCall goes for the takedown and gets Johnson on the ground. Landing shots to the body and face. Demetrious Johnson is able to reverse it and McCall gets to his feet. Detmetrious swarming and McCall returns fire as the fighters lock up. Demetrious throws a kick and it is caught and McCall puts Demetrious on his back. Demetrious is able to get up and lands an elbow as the fighters disengage. McCall landed a right. Demetrious with the spinning back kick. Demetrious swinging wildly. Johnson shoots lands a left and McCall is rocked. Demetrious swarming again, McCall throwing as well. Demetrious gets down los and McCall is popping him in the head. Demetrious lands a right as they disengage. McCall comes in and eatsw two more shots from Johnson. McCall with the leg kick. Demetrious with a punch kick combination, but the kick was blocked.

10-9 Johnson. Lot happened in that round and I didn’t get all of it down, but Might Mouse won that one with the better strikes.

Round 2- Fighters exchange and Johnson lands a big right hand and swarms, but McCall weathers the assault pretty well. Demetrious throws a kick. McCall throwing some leg kicks. Comes in with a superman punch that doesn’t land flush. Johsnon landed a nice right there. Johnson took one in the nads. And we’re back. Johnson is landed the best shots when they exchange. Also landing a kick to the body then one to the leg. McCall poppped Johnson with a right. These guys are throwing every punch as hard as they can. Johnson throws an enormous overhand right andmisses. Fighters end up against the cage and both fighters land elbows as they disengage. McCall has mighty mouse pushed against the cage. Johnson throws a nice kick. McCall shoots, but doesn’t get anywhere. Johnson lands a jab. Tie up against the cage and Johnson lands an elbow.

Close round. I think Johnson is landing more shots. 10-9 Johnson

Round 3- Leg kicks exchanged. Kicks are missed by both. Nice leg kick by McCall. Demetrious thought he hit McCall, stops fighting and then starts again when the ref doesn’t step in. That was weird. These guys are showing a little too much sportsmanship here. Demetrious landed a flying knee, but gets takden down and McCall is on top in the half guard. They scramble and Johnson rolls out of it. Nice. McCall hits a suplex for a takedown and has a nice body triangle and Johnson’s back with two minutes left. McCall is pounding Johnsons’s skull from the top position, but if we learned one thing about Leon Roberts it is that he fucking hates stopping fights. Johnson works to his feet again. Johnson is really tough to keep down. Jonson rushes in, McCall goes for and gets the takedown, but Mighty Mouse rolls out. McCall gets back on top, has the full mount and is raining down shots on Johnsons who rolls over and is getting murdered with his face on the ground. Rolls back over and eats a few more as the round ends.

I’ve got it 28-28. McCall murdered Johnson in the third.

This is going to be a close call. I think we’re going to see a split decision.

Johnson 29-28 by split decision.

That’s a valid decision if you didn’t think McCall won the third round enough to get a 10-8, but I think he did enough for the draw. Judges try to avoid the draw if they can.
