Daron Cruickshank vs Henry Martinez

Henry Martinez came in overweight for this fight against Daron Cruickshank and is forfeiting a portion of his purse. Martinez is hyping Alphanail.com on his shorts, which is nail polish for men from the makers of Alpha Brain. Just when you thought MMA fashion could not get any worse, you’ve got nail polish for men.

Round 1: Henry comes in headhunting. He lands a few punches and has Daron against the fence. Martinez eats a few shots. Daron throws a wild spinning punch that misses. Martinez is going for the takedown, but isn’t doing shit. Daron lands some elbows and going for a kimura. A swarm of punches by the fence, both fighters land and Martinez is cut. Daron lands a spinning elbow, an uppercut, and then just misses a spinning wheel kick.

Daron is truly fearless, he’s throwing a lot of high-risk, spinning shots. Daron lands a kick to the body and Martinez looks like he’s in pain. More kicks and a big knee; it doesn’t look like Martinez is really defending himself. Martinez recovers and throws a bunch of punches. That was a really great exchange, but Martinez took a ton of punishment. I can’t believe this fight is still going.

Daron lands a right hand. Martinez’s face is bloody as fuck. Daron lands a front kick. Spinning heelkick by Daron. Daron lunges in with an uppercut and an overhand right, a few more punches then a pinpoint front kick from close up. I can’t believe Martinez standing up to some of these punches, he must be concussed by now. If that’s not a 10-8 round on every card, I’ll be flabbergasted. I bet the judge who handed out three 10-8s to Denis Siver probably gave Cruickshank a 10-7 for that one.

Round 2: Martinez comes forward and grabs a leg. Martinez starts bleeding immediately. A vicious knee to the body from Daron, who is now covered in his opponent’s blood. Martinez comes forward and takes another knee to the body. Daron just missed with a head kick. Martinez still coming forward. Daron lands a straight right. Martinez with a leg kick. Front leg side-kick by Daron. Martinez comes forward punching. Daron with a front kick. Daron lands a roundhouse to the back of his opponent’s head; Henry Martinez goes down and the fight is over. 

There you have it. I’ll be damned if that’s not the knockout of the night. No way Cruickshank’s not getting a bonus for that. Probably going to be a nice payday for Daron Cruickshank. He’s going to score a bit of Martinez’ purse for the missed weight, plus he’s got a nearly guaranteed knockout of the night bonus for a kick that’s going to be replayed on UFC knockout highlight reels forever.
