Rising local junior lightweight Dante Jardon improved to 18-1 (16 KOs) by stopping Adrian Tellez in Mexico City on Telemundo Friday night. Jardon looked too strong from the outset. The fight would have been stopped following the opening stanza in many states after a series of rights knocked Tellez down and sent him wobbling back to his corner at the bell. But it took place in Mexico, so the bout lasted through another knockdown early in the 2nd until a vicious right uppercut had the ref forsaking a count to call for medical assistance.

The second knockdown in particular was an impressive affair, prompted by a snapping right-left combination that could have dented a pickup. Jardon has now notched 17 straight wins after losing his second professional fight. A ShoBox matchup pairing him against Adrian Broner or Diego Magdaleno would be cause to stay in on Saturday night.

In other televised action Hector Morales shocked featherweight prospect Josue Veraza by landing a counter right in the 3rd that opened a deep cut on Veraza’s right eye. The injury looked bad enough to force the doc or someone in Veraza’s corner to end the fight soon after. Until the exchange that hurt him the 18-year-old Veraza had shown admirable power and handspeed.

Rounding out the card, junior bantamweight Jesus Faro forced Mario Andrade to quit before the 4th while junior flyweights Carlos Barraza and Salvador Juarez fought to a 4-round draw.
