Dana White Listens To Internet, Changes His Mind

UFC boss Dana White, almost certainly after reading the post I wrote yesterday, (and similar posts written by just about every MMA writer on the internet) backed off his position that the winner of the Brandon Vera vs. Mauricio Rua fight will get a title shot.

White apparently realized that he could end up with a very unappealing title fight, depending on the outcomes of the upcoming light heavyweight fights. Now he has acknowledged that the winner of the Ryan Bader vs. Lyoto Machida fight would also get consideration, which makes sense because that is the more competitive fight of the two. Of course you never know what is going to happen in MMA, maybe Vera KOs Rua in the first round, but Vera has looked like crap ever since he defeated Frank Mir in 2006. Anyhow, this is a good outcome, which will spice up Bader vs. Machida fight a little bit.  Should be a great free card on Fox.

Also, it should be said that it is pretty cool how Dana reversed himself after the Internet complained. It would be amazing if other sports commissioners were this responsive. Maybe there wouldn’t be two freaking wildcards for each league in the MLB playoffs.
