Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem
by Dr. Octagon, J.D.
Tonight’s main event pits Alistair Overeem the striker versus Brock Lesnar the wrestler. Pretty straightforward. Brock needs the takedown. Reem needs to keep it on the feet. Reem has never fought a wrestler with Brock’s skill and size. Brock weathered the storm from Carwin, who probably hits harder than Reem, but Reem has a more varied attack.
I doubt he’ll be throwing a lot of kicks because he’s likely to get put on his back if he does, but Overeem has been killing much better strikers than Brock in K-1.
Round 1-Brock throws a leg kick. Lesnar shoots for the single, but Overeem gets out. Overeem is cut, didn’t see how. Overeem ties Brock up and lands a knee. Reem is lighting Brock up in the the clinch, Lesnar not looking good. I didn’t think Reem would be clinching with Lesnar.
Reem lands a kick to the body and Brock goes down. Overeem lands a few more shots on the ground and referee Yamasaki jumps in. Fight is over in the first. Brock seemed terrified the whole fight. Not sure if he broke a rib early or what, but he looked awful and didn’t mount any offense whatsoever.
Brock announces his retirement in the octagon, proving those who questioned his desire correct. After collecting his healthy paycheck he can go back to the WWE for another decade or two and make twice the money.
Overeem looks way bigger than UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos. That will be a great fight.
