Bristol "Palin" Marunde vs. Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza
Bristol is a lady’s name if you ask me, but whatever. Marunde’s parents apparently decided Mauro Ranallo kills me. I can’t stand him. That voice is just so affected and he says such stupid shit. He just said that Bristol “wears many hats including the one he is wearing right now.” Really. He said that.
He’s with Frank Shamrock, who is also unbearable, and still has braces. His orthodontist is straight juicing him at this point. Both these dumb shits should just shut the fuck up and let Miletich do all the talking.
Round 1- Jacare comes in with a straight right, which lands. Souza kicks and it is caught, but he lands a knee when Marunde ties him up. Both fighters swing, neither really lands. Souza gets in the Thai clinch, lands a shot on Marunde as they disengage and then jumps on Marunde’s back and starts working for the choke. He has a nice body triangle locked up, so it is just a matter of getting his hands in the right position. Jacare goes for a head butt and the ref informs him that that shit hasn’t been allowed since the go go nineties. Decides to land shots on the turtled Marunde and the referee stops the action due to strikes to the back of the head. Not sure whether he deducted a point there, but he certainly took Jacare off in a dominant position. Those strikes were not to the back of the head. If Ranallo and Shamrock weren’t total clowns, they would explain that there is a mohawk-shaped region on the back of the head, basically a projection of the spine on to the back of the skull that you aren’t allowed to hit. Souza’s strikes were not in that region.That was a terrible call. Marunde comes in and Jacare pops him with a right and follows him to the ground going for a choke, but doesn’t have it. Marunde gets up, but Jacare throws him on the ground again. Jacare is landing knees to the body on the ground and Marunde gets to his feet.
Round 2- Marunde seems to be getting the better part of these strikes, but isn’t staggering Jacare at all. Jacare just caught him, and again and Marunde looks hurtSouza lands a spinning kick to the face and rather than continuing to strike, pushes Marunde against the fence. Really sick takedown off the fence, basically walked on it while holding on to Marunde’s body, but Marunde is able to pop back up. Jacare lands a knee in the clinch. Jacare landed an uppercut and a kick to the body, now in the clinch, but doesn’t land. Marunde with the jab, lightly landing. Jacare lands a jab of his own, but Marund lands a leg kick. Marund runs into a right and Jacare continues to tee off. Marunde has quite the chin. Jacare is slamming Marunde with that right hook. Jacare shoots for the takedown and tries to go for the leg lock as the round ends.
Round 3- Souza gets the takedown on a Marunde punch and is in half guard. Landing elbows. Marunde has a cut on his forehead. Landing knees to the body and short punches from the half guard. Jacare takes his back and drags him to the ground when he tries to stand up. Jacare is tight on Marunde’s back and is trying to flatten him out, landing punches as Marunde rolls over and Jacare sinks in the arm triangle choke for the finish as Marunde taps out.
