Andy Lee vs. Craig McEwan
MASHANTUCKET, Conn.—Michael Buffer is here now expressing condolences for the people of Japan. His mellifluous voice is saved only for televised bouts. Time for the Celtic War.
Round 1-The Irishman is the first to land meaningful leather with a straight right to the Scot’s chin. Pretty even round, but I think it goes to the mick.
Round 2-Lee connects with a right hook. McEwan lunges in and scores with a combination. Lee is scoring with his right. McEwan comes in with a crisp right hook and has lee on the ropes as the round ends. I’ve got the Scot winning that one.
Round 3-The Scot is getting the upper hand now and the Irish in attendance are reacting by singing their national Ole ole ole song. The Scot looked sharper that round.
Showing a clip of Maravilla getting his hands taped up. He looks happy and is dancing.
Round 4-Lee is scoring with his jab, but the Scot is landing the more meaningful blows. McEwan is teeing off on Lee and it is impressive that he is still on his feet at this point.
Round 5-McEwan is lands a combo to the body and landing clean leather on Lee’s face at will. Lee finally looks like he is hurt and ties up McEwan in a half nelson before the round ends. Lee is losing in pretty much every exchange, but still smiling
Round 6- Looks like Lee’s eye is starting to swell up. Lee is not blocking many punches and McEwan has landed a ton of clean shots to his face. Lee is still active though and keeps throwing. McEwan won that one too, but looks like he is tiring from throwing so many punches.
Round 7- Lee lands a solid right and the place explodes with the Irish shouts. That round was pretty even. McEwan looks very tired. Lee might have eked it out.
Round 8- Another even round. Not sure who took that one. Lee looked a little sharper.
Round 9- Lee is landing the harder shots now. McEwan’s punches don’t even seem to be phasing him at all. Lee scores a solid knockdown at the end of the round via a straight left directly on the chin.
Round 10- Slugfest as both fighters go for broke and end up in the clinch. Ref breaks them up and Lee moves in and smokes the Scot with a left hook to the chin. Lee knows he won it as the ref waves the fight off. McEwan is out.
The Irish go wild. Takes him a while to get up. Great come from behind victory for Lee.
