Alexander Gustafsson vs Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua

Round 1: Mauricio “Shogun” Rua lands a leg kick. Rua got clipped and is on the ground. Alexander Gustafsson is on top; Shogun locks in a leg lock, but Gustaffson gets out. Shogun has a bodylock in and is throwing knees. Shogun tries for the takedown, but Gustafsson holds onto the cage. Gustafsson is coming forward, Shogun is sucking wind. Gustafsson pushes Shogun down, Shogun grabs a leg and Gustafsson pulls out. Shogun lands a punch and gets Gustafsson down on the ground. [[MORE]]
Gustafsson pushes himself toward the fence and works to his feet, but Shogun has a clinch locked in and is landing knees. Shogun eats an uppercut. Gustafsson throws a punch. Shogun is coming in, I think he got hit. Shogun lands a leg kick. Shogun’s nose is bleeding badly. Shogun lands a big left hook. Shogun lands a right. Shogun lands a leg kick. Gustafsson shoots, Shogun stuffs it. Gustafsson shoves him up against the cage. Gustafsson lands a knee. Shogun landing knees from the clinch.

Round 2: Shogun lands a left. Shogun is breathing hard, but he’s still throwing with bad intentions. Shogun lands an overhand right. Shogun again with an overhand right and a left. Shogun lands another overhand right. Gustafsson shoots, but Shogun stuffs it. They’re against the cage and the ref breaks them up. Shogun lands a left, they clinch, and Shogun gets kicked in the nuts while the ref yells at him for grabbing the fence.
Shogun lands another overhand right and grabs Gustafsson, but ends up on his back. Gustafsson lands a few shots before letting him up. Shogun tags Gustafsson with another overhand right. Shogun is loading up for that one punch. Shogun’s eye is swelling. Shogun throws the big right hand, Gustafsson shoots and gets the takedown, but Shogun works to his feet and lands some more knees from the clinch.
Gustafsson is working from the clinch. Gustafsson is able to take him to the ground and land some weak punches, but Shogun stands up. Shogun gets popped with a knee on his way up, but keeps throwing punches. Gustafsson lands an uppercut and a knee; Shogun is bleeding badly still throwing that lunging right. Rua misses one and lands the other. Gustafsson with the leg kick.

Round 3: Shogun misses with a left. Shogun lands two more rights. Another right by Shogun. Gustafsson goes for the takedown and gets Shogun’s back. Shogun back to the feet and back to business, loading up on the right. Lunging left from Shogun, who is breathing heavily and glances at the clock. Shogun throws the right and Gustafsson ducks under it. Gustafsson gets the takedown and is in Shogun’s full guard. He’s landing some elbows from the guard.
Gustafsson lands two punches. Shogun takes a kick to the body. Gustafsson lands a right hand, gets a takedown, and lands a knee. Shogun is getting beat up. Rua takes a right and another knee. Rua lands the right again, but there’s not much pop behind it anymore. Gustafsson pushes Shogun against the cage again and Shogun is sucking wind. Shogun throwing knees, and so is Gustafsson, but referee Big Dan separates them. Gustafsson shoots and throws a left on the break. Big front kick from Gustafsson, but Shogun remains standing. Nice left by Shogun. Gustafsson gets the takedown as the fight ends.

I score it 30-27 Gustafsson, another loss for the old guys. Shogun needs to get in shape or stop fighting. He looked tired by the end of the first round.
